Unconventional By Nature
Working with Born and directed by Shea Bennett, the concept was built around contrast. We open in a more traditional world, black and white, 4:3 and quite rigid, before gradually expanding into something broader and more open once we arrive at the Mill. The location plays a big role. Down in Tasmania, wide natural landscapes sit alongside the Mill’s industrial structures, all of it feeling like it’s slowly being reclaimed by the environment. We handled the project end-to-end, starting with a recce in Tasmania and building out the shoot through storyboards, mood boards and casting. Production was designed to stay flexible. We shot on the Ronin 4D with anamorphic lenses for the Mill sequences, and spherical lenses for the opening, helping separate the two worlds. Drone work was used to open things up and give a sense of scale. In post, a lot of the work went into shaping the world. The boardroom scene was rebuilt outside the windows to feel more corporate, with subtle VFX and additional set dressing used throughout to push moments further. Between the rugged coastline, unpredictable weather and mix of spaces, the project carried an energy that’s hard to fake. Made by humans. Inspired by the unconventional.
